Welcome to my Dancing for a Miracle personal fundraising page!  I am raising funds for Children’s Hospital Foundation through this amazing event, which is a spinoff of Dancing with the Stars.  That’s right!  I’ve been hard at work with my professional dance partner, the incredibly patient Brian Franks, learning an exciting routine to perform in order to help provide funding for pediatric programs in research and education in Oklahoma.

I was lucky enough to attend last year’s event in support of a good friend and I was blown away!  Watching months of practice unfold into beautiful dance routines was really cool, but the thing that really got me was learning about the children impacted by these amazing fundraising efforts.  Seeing faces behind the statistics made things very real and I was in awe of the strength and perseverance I saw in the children and families we were introduced to that night.  

Over the course of the next several months, I found myself thinking about those children and families and comparing experiences with my own children to theirs.  I could relate on a certain level - at separate times, two of my children required life-saving measures and spent time recovering in an intensive care unit; one as a premature newborn and one as a teenager.  I remember how terrifying those weeks were…as a parent, I felt helpless and overwhelmed.  Fortunately, both of my children were treated with relative ease and now live happy, healthy lives.  Sadly, that is not the case for many families.  The desire to help sick children started to grow within me.  I considered applying for a spot as a celebrity dancer for the next year’s fundraising event, but fear stopped me in my tracks. There was NO WAY I could EVER do something like dance in front of a crowd!!

As it turns out, God decided I could!  Remember that friend I went to support?  He called me and insisted that I participate in the 2017 Dancing for a Miracle event!  Ok, he didn’t insist.  In fact, I’m not sure exactly what he said because I think I blacked out a little after I heard, “I think you should dance…” What I do remember is reminding myself that I tell my children one simple thing every time they are afraid of a new experience: Don’t let fear hold you back from trying something new - there is always something beautiful to be found!  I decided to take my own advice and here I am!  I hope you’ll join me in my efforts to help sick kids – I know that together, we can transform lives and build brighter futures!

Children's Hospital Foundation is a proud affiliate for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and is dedicated to providing funding for pediatric programs in research and education while serving every county in Oklahoma with more than 225,000 annual patient encounters.

All funds raised through Children's Hospital Foundation stay in Oklahoma so that our children will have exceptional pediatric specialists without having to leave the state.

All funds raised by participating dancers will count towards their efforts to become the 2017 Dancing for a Miracle Star!

100% of the donations will stay in Oklahoma through Children's Hospital Foundation.
